Jowonder will provide the opening ritual for our Alien Equinox.
It will begin at 8.00pm and will take 15-20 minutes. This crucial session, with music by soprano Kirsten Morrison, will help us connect with the unseen energy that will create the evening’s substance. And if we are lucky we should see some sightings.
She says: ‘I’m as interested in ‘hard science’ as the supernatural.
In 2022, with sponsorship from IOP, I developed a ‘Schrodinger’s Cat Box,’ and curated an event including Tom Rocks Maths. At another event, scientists Brian Cox and Jim Khalili attended.
*Later on in the evening, two short films of Jo’s will be played (without sound) and they will be accompanied by improv soundscapes.
1. Flatlanders, an art installation created in response to the nuclear research at CERN, attempting to find out about the origins of the universe. Premiered in Guildford Cathedral in 2007. The ambition of science is paradoxical and the icarus in the film both gains and loses his wings.
2. ‘Schrodinger’s Cat’ is a thought experiment that illustrates a paradox of quantum superposition. A hypothetical cat may be considered simultaneously both alive and dead as a result of its fate being linked to a random subatomic event that may or may not occur.
