Dissidences*. Sound, voice, word. —Dissidences*. Sound, voice, word.
Poetesses and/or poets, singers, performers, gather in a semi circle around a music improviser. Reading, reciting, singing or babbling. Spontaneity and dissidence are the rules. Spontaneity and dissidence will be the basis for the creation of a collective piece.
Dissidents 4:
Marilza Gouvêa & Marijó Alba Sánchez with voice.
Veronica Cordova with performance/words.
Marcio Mattos with sound.
Marilza Gouvêa comes from a musical family in Brazil, her father played classical guitar and her grandfather was a maestro and music teacher.
From an early age she studied poetry recitation, performing in several poetry reading venues and she also got involved with Bossa Nova and Brazilian popular music. She joined the improvised scene after moving to Europe. She has worked with many exponents artists such as Adrian Northover, Jim Dvorak, Terry Day, Phil Minton and Marcio Mattos. She has participated in various improvised music festivals such as the Acéfalo in Valparaíso, Chile, the Casa Invisible Festival in Málaga, Spain (invited by Javier Carmona), and in The Audio Rebel Festival in Rio de Janeiro, Brasil.
“Her use of the voice as an expressive sound source is both dramatic and unique.”
Marijó Alba Sánchez is a craftswoman of words and raw materials, without nationality or borders. She is constantly exploring all the languages that life brings her way, and believes that this is what creation is all about: being open to every possible technique.
She is a member of the literary groups Las Juanas and Poetas en el River Thames.
