Exhibition : Silent Savages. Paintings by Chris Godber. 15 March to 2 April 2023

Private view Thursday 16th of March 6.30 to 9.30
Ground floor gallery.

Chris Godber‘s painting practice has mostly developed human portraits in imagined biomorphic environments as well as biomorphism of body, portraying an emotional landscape. This body of work explores an intersection of landscape and the figure – often morphing and blending the two in paintings that dissolve and dance between representation, abstraction and altered perception, exploring the character of the ‘modern outsider’.

Chris Godber is an artist and painter originally from Congleton, Cheshire. He started painting when he was in his early 20’s and discovered modern painting via Kandinsky and Picasso. He has run various studios in London, Manchester and Moscow and is a key member in the three cities’ different art collectives and cooperatives. As a contributor to theory within the Tunnel Art Collective, he also has exhibited several times in Hundred Years Gallery. He is currently based in Inverkeithing in Fife, Scotland, where he paints and writes in his home studio. He also writes books, makes electronic music and is works as a computer programmer.
