Music : LUFT | Welkin | Diaries of Destruction. Sunday 22nd March 15:30

An afternoon of high weirdness with…

LUFT
Chris Hill (clarinet, electronics), Alan Newcombe (saxes) and James O’Sullivan (electric guitar).
Pursuing their own regime of maximal improvisation the trio thrives on a no compromise approach that may lurch between cinematic rumblings, fractured keening, and melancholic disarray at the drop of a hat.

Welkin
Welkin play with elemental forces. Named for the vault of heaven, the group encompasses a deeply textured and constantly evolving sound. Between them, Dominic Lash and N.O. Moore (guitars) and Dave Fowler (drums) have collaborated with the likes of Tony Conrad, Eddie Prévost, and Adam Bohman. A trio of improvisers, they utilise the language of sonic heaviness to enlighten the sky, drawing on a tradition that runs from Blue Cheer to Fushitshusha to SUMAC and beyond.

Dairies of Destruction
The current lineup of Dairies of Destruction is the duo of Elif Yalvaç (baritone guitar, synthesizers, and laptop) and Jordan Muscatello (bass). They first met in 2016 at a Keiji Haino performance in South London. Discovering their aligned musical interests, they started to collaborate after Elif moved to the UK in 2021, with repeated gigs and recording sessions. In 2024 they recorded an album (DoD II) combining metal riffage and textural improvised passages manipulated live and in post-production.
