Music : Gaudenz Badrutt & Richard Sanderson – two electroacoustic solos. Thursday 8th July 19:30

Gaudenz Badrutt is an electroacoustic musician working in the field of improvised and composed music. His electroacoustic music is characterized by an instrumental use of computer/live sampling and electronic devices. Filigree structures, minimal noises, and dense, unusual outbursts are key characteristics of his music. He also works in the fields of sound and video installation and musicology.

Badrutt is known for his collaborations with Jonas Kocher (accordion) and Hans Koch (clarinet, soprano saxophone), for his solo-performances as well as one half of the electroacoustic duo Strøm. Gaudenz is currently working also on projects with Christof Kurzmann, Kai Fagaschinski, Jean-Luc Guionnet, Frantz Loriot, Ilia Belorukov, Urs Leimgruber, Jacques Demierre, Alfred Zimmerlin and Daniel Studer. He has performed at the Festivals RingRing Belgrade, Music Unlimited Wels, Le Bruit de la Musique Saint-Silvain-sous-Toulx France, Sanatorium of Sound Poland, Irtijal Beirut, Zwei Tage Zeit Zürich, Transmediale Berlin, and Taktlos/Tonart Bern.

Richard Sanderson is an improvising musician based in London, with a background in post-punk and folk music – his instrument of choice is the amplified melodeon – a diatonic button accordion, played through a series of foot pedals. He has recorded five solo albums of melodeon, and has collaborated with (amongst others) Bill Thompson, Steve Beresford, and Mark Spybey. He has recorded with the groups Ticklish, Minnow, Lost Robots and the Trios Bowne/Thompson/Sanderson and The Horse Trio.

He has played festivals of experimental music throughout Europe.
Richard runs the Linear Obsessional label, leads the Hither Green Drone Orchestra and dances with Blackheath Morris Men.
