Colonial Sun + Mally Harpaz + Guests. Saturday 27th January 7:30

This is a unique opportunity to catch these two artists in a new context as they transfer their music from off the track music venues to the  stillness of a gallery space.

Multi instrumentalist Mally Harpaz (Anna Calvi, Hazel Iris, Colonial Sun, Jessica Lauren, Eran Karniel) performs her original compositions joined by a small number of phenomenal musicians and special guests. These distinct pieces were mainly written as part of a collaboration with award-winning video artist Clara Aparicio Yoldi. Mally’s reverence for the profound creates mysterious melodic lines and shares a luscious ambience with other contemporary pioneers such as Steve Reich, Max Richter, and Nils Frahm.

Colonial Sun is the musical moniker of James Marples, an Australian singer-songwriter whose dark balladry has drawn comparisons with Howe Gelb, Sun Kil Moon and Mark Lanegan. Emotionally lucid and at times surreal, these songs draw on imagery from the Australian landscape to the decaying monuments of Empire.

Doors 7:30 | music 8pm | entry £8 (£6 advance)
