Private View Thursday 4th October 6:30 – 9:30pm
As an artist I am obsessed with ‘contrast’ as it relates to everything in life. I see life as a long road that leads somewhere we are yet to fathom. Many people call this destination death. The question is: Is it our level of consciousness that interprets this unusual phenomenon as death?
I think we just evolve, either consciously or unconsciously and at the end of this life the process continues albeit the consciousness will be different. I have evolved as an artist, hence the title of the show ‘EVOLUTION’. I have been through different phases studying every piece of art that comes my way. From a poet who used to draw with ballpoint pens I turned into the artist that I am now – painter, sculptor and life coach.
Over the past 8 years I have explored different forms of art trying to figure out what works best for me. I started with ballpoint pens and proceeded to using acrylic, oil, pastel and clay. My favourite style is chiaroscuro and I use it to create a sense of engagement with the viewer. Presently I work as a volunteer at the University College London Hospitals (UCLH) where I use visual art to comfort the patients as a way of assisting the healing process.
My Wife (Mrs. Sabrina Ukpan) is also part of this show. She is my muse and source of inspiration. Sabrina is a dance teacher and choreographer who uses dance to create a sense of harmony within. My wife and I have teamed to make this show an unforgettable experience. We’ll be performing a piece entitled Evolution. This is a combination of dance, poetry and djembe beats.
Thank you and I hope you enjoy the show.
