Exhibition : Ana Pallares : My Own Season In Hell. 1st to 11th March

During the weeks of her retrospective and residency at Hundred Years Gallery, Ana has been developing a new series of paintings based on the work of Arthur Rimbaud in which the artist enters into a conversation with the poet and others influenced by him. The paintings, on fruit boxes and paper, reveal the artist’s parallel dialogue with authors she identifies with, bringing out her personal reflections on outsider’s matters.

Rimbaud: ‘Once, if I remember well, my life was a feast where all hearts opened and all wines flowed.

One evening I seated Beauty on my knees. And I found her bitter. And I cursed her’.

Pallares: ‘I don’t know the taste of Beauty as beautiful things have been escaping from me all my life’.
