Connections photo-book launch, developed by the Photography and Poetry Society at Goldsmiths, University of London.
Connections was initiated in the face of seemingly continuous lockdown, developing from the shared desire to create and connect with other artists, but also to stay inspired to produce novel work during the pandemic. Months in the making, photographers and poets from the Photography Society and Poetry Society at Goldsmiths, University of London, were paired to produce a synergetic project, based on similarly expressed interests and passions. Together, the pairs produced a body of work that complimented each other’s writings and imagery. Conceptually, the themes within this collection of works encompass a myriad of interpretations of the term ‘connections’ — platonic and romantic relationships, loss, growth, spirituality, food, and human interrelation to nature amongst many others. The different approaches and perspectives presented here are a remarkable reminder of the infinite possibilities that can be fostered through mutual sharing of thoughts and ideas. In the bleakness of any circumstance, human connection is a dynamic, awakening force.
Proceeds from this zine go towards supporting Art in Perpetuity Trust (APT) in Deptford, London, a charity whose mission is to encourage and reward creative thought and artistic vision.
