EGG&CRISP (Ed Shipsey and Chris Hill) is a performance duo that combines improvised music with a Dadaistic foam. Equally likely to quote Ken Dodd as Messiaen, EGG&CRISP teeter on the abyss of nonsense while offering the listener access to a sublime universe of sound – a folk music for the unhinged. Alan Newcombe was a member of the London Musicians Collective in the mid 80’s and was part of a flexible ensemble for some years playing varieties of improvised music. Since returning to live playing he’s been involved in MOWO, the Skronk sessions, the London Improvisation Workshop, Babble and Squeak, No Computers 50/50 project and LIO. Collaborations have included Eddie Prevost, Dominic Lash, NO Moore, James O’Sullivan and Paul May, a trio with Dave Fowler and Jordan Muscatello and duos with Chris Hill, Keisuke Matsui, Raxil4, Stephan Barrett and Jo Morrison. He also used improvised performance and music for launches of his novel Gritstone collaborating with Bettina Schroeder, Iris Colomb, Chris Hill and Douglas Benford. A new novel The Glass Tower is out in early 2027. He now mainly concentrates on playing with LUFT, with James O’Sullivan and Chris Hill.
Mario Guarnieri is a London-based drummer/percussionist, interested in playing across and in-between the lines of free improvisation, experimental and groove. He is involved with large and small ensemble playing both in workshops and performances: the London Improvisers Orchestra, Eddie Prèvost London Improvisation Workshops, Tony Hardie-Bick’s Virtual London Improvisation Workshops, Stuart Wilding’s Lo Fi Ensemble, Phil Morton’s 50:50 System and David Leahy’s Music & Dance Underscore Practice at Trinity Laban Conservatoire. His recent live collaborations include: Sue Lynch, Julia Doyle, Iris Colomb, Helena Paul, Tilly Coulton, N.O. Moore, Ross Lambert, Benedict Taylor, Chris Hill, John Macedo, Douglas Benford, Ivor Kalin, Thomas Mejer and many more. Has performed at venues/events, including: Ad Lib Ealing, Hundred Years Gallery, Sound Bureau, The Horse Improv Club, Scaledown, Rich Mix, Charles Hayward’s Lewisham Arthouse Series, Adam Bohman’s Improvised Music Concert Series, Lev Dudas’ Konsztrukting Soundz, Zen Jerk, Skronk and ImproVox. Some of these performances have been recorded and broadcast on Resonance FM (‘The Ambrosia Rasputin Show’ and ‘Late Lunch With Out To Lunch’) and Soho Radio (The OTL Show).
Tony Hardie-Bick – is a musician and entrepreneur whose interests in electronics and music overlap significantly. An early musical epiphany while touring with legendary punk band Sham 69 inspired him to design and build a series of digital musical instruments Commercial success followed with his design for the world’s first touch screen that responds to the sound of fingertip impacts. Tony’s recent return to musical instrument design has seen his distorting filter algorithms licensed to Ableton in 2022, followed by the construction of apparatus for listening to the sound of cities, live, in real time, anywhere in the world. The city sounds are filtered and distorted using a radical new instrument, as yet unnamed, in dialogue with other musicians.

Gardyloo Spew is an experimental underground musician and audio investigator. Working under an alias inspired by the historical Scottish warning cry for “heads up, sewage coming out the window,” who knows what might happen. Alto recorder, vocal cords, and tiny electronics.
Joanne Morrison is an experimental vocalist & improvising performer with a penchant for cat toys, costume & masks. She’s part of various New Music ensembles & also creates solo work which is currently based around an interest in glossolalia & medieval mysticism from the Christian tradition. As well as performing at Essex venues such as Hot Box, The Commons & The Fishermen’s Chapel, she has also played at Cafe Oto, Hundred Years Gallery, Colour Out Of Space Festival, The Horse Hospital, Battersea Arts Centre, Iklectik & many other independent spaces. Joanne was part of the 2025 cohort at TOMA (the other MA), an alternative art school based in Southend.
