Saxophonist and writer Alan Newcombe launches his novel Gritstone and performs with three groups:
Dave Fowler (percussion)
Jordan Muscatello (double bass)
Iris Colomb (desiccated reading of the novel)
Bettina Schroeder (ukulele and similar desiccated reading)
Douglas Benford (objects, harmonium etc.)
LUFT with James O’Sullivan (guitar)
Chris Hill (clarinet, various instruments)
Mike’s life has become directionless and when he walks out of a marriage in freefall, he has nothing left to lose. He’s headed to Gritstone House, a closed community in the Calder Valley, dominated by the galvanic personality of this old friend Al. He’s been invited to Al’s wedding but stays to see the community implode in hysterical violence – and a group of well-meaning people become murderers.
Copies of Gritstone available for £10 on the day.
