Joy Boole is a composer and live performer who writes music using an eclectic mix of clarinet, Aerophone and live electronic processing. She creates ambient, rich and evolving soundscapes, with the aim of drawing the listener in using various techniques such as repetitive sequences, delays, reverbs and ethereal sounds. These sounds are created as a result of the instruments being played, followed by manipulating their acoustic properties with live electronic processing. This is achieved by playing through Ableton Live which she controls with a MIDI foot controller as well as her Aerophone (a type of wind synthesiser).
Nye Jones uses a range of instruments to craft ambient loops and textures, which are then reprocessed live, creating melodic atmospheres which drift into passages of noise. He is a member of Concrete Gazebo, an improvisational collective who host a bimonthly experimental music night in Cambridge which is open to all who wish to observe or participate. He also collaborates more broadly within the Cambridge artistic underground, taking part in events promoted by Bad Timing, Crushing Death and Grief, and Heart of Noise.
Elien De Schryver is a Belgian musician and violinist based in Cambridge. Playing the electric violin, she weaves loops into intricate textures and atmospheric landscapes. With a keen interest in exploring music and sound on violin, particularly through improvisation, her work spans various genres, including improvised music for performance and installations. Elien is also an HCPC-registered music therapist and an associate lecturer in the Music Therapy training programme at Anglia Ruskin University.
Diaries of Destruction is a collaborative project by the UK-based Turkish artist Elif Yalvaç with dark ambient, drone, metal and avant-garde influences.
The current lineup of DoD is a duo of Elif Yalvaç (baritone guitar, synthesizers, FX) and Jordan Muscatello (bass, FX), a London-based artist operating mainly within improvised and experimental music.
The current duo first met in 2016 at a Keiji Haino performance in South London. Discovering their aligned musical interests, they started to collaborate after in 2021, with repeated gigs and recording sessions. The album “DoD II”, out on Halloween, features sounds from these gigs and sessions, with arrangements and mixing finalised by Elif Yalvaç.
The duo will present an atmospheric set with powerful combination of riffage and textural improvised passages.
