Stephen Shiell is a London-based sound artist, composer and improviser working across experimental music, radiophonic art and site-responsive process. His work explores listening as a social, ecological and political act, engaging sound as a way of understanding place, environment and human presence.
Ian Thompson is a sound artist/designer/engineer, musician, researcher and educator. He is currently Programme Leader for Music and Sound Production at the University of Greenwich. Recent works include multi-channel audiovisual installations, live online audio production, and performances incorporating magnetic tape loops. He regularly plays free-improvised ‘cello in Shiell-Thompson-Wilson.
Richard Wilson is one of Britain’s most renowned sculptors and a former founding member of the Bow Gamelan Ensemble1983-1991
Throughout his international career as a sculptor he has continued his sound collaborations where he incorporates percussion and outdoor steam whistle blows. He is currently gigging with Shiell-Thompson-Wilson.
Intrepid sonic adventurer Karina Townsend makes sound making devices, improvised from life’s offcuts, to explore the physical environment. For Loose Fittings she will explore continuous systems with careful modulation, walking a tightrope where things can break or behave unexpectedly. “my feeling was that it’s like sucking on a lemon – in a good way! Sharp and palate cleansing (and full of vitamins!)” Trigger warning: DIY bagpipes!
Hannah White is a singer, improviser and facilitator whose work explores voice and sound through participatory, communal and experimental spaces. As an improviser she is interested in the meeting of vocal experimentation and text, using poetry, found text and cut-ups/lists alongside more lyrical structures and extended techniques.
Aldo started out young, playing guitar at school jamming with the like-minded. A degree in Popular Music took him onto the world of Rock and free improv. He formed and joined bands inc The Dirty Truth, Man shaped Wolf and now a street jammer with the infamous Street Cats Band, bringing live rock back to the streets of London. He has a wealth of collaborations with many great names, as a lead guitarist.
