Rita Says (Jerico Orchestra) will be interviewing Internationally regarded documentary cinematographer Jason Parkinson. Just back from a tour of Ukraine Jason will be speaking on the relationship between contemporary art and documentary practise (his influences include neo-classical landscape painting, Mass Observation, New Realist Film and Fine Art Video) and discussing his uniquely cinematic approach to covering events on the frontline.
This presentation is an attempt to re-contextualise documentary practice as a valid form of contemporary art by placing it in a gallery setting.
Talk will be followed by a loop screening of highlights from Jason’s work.
