Dave Jackson & Wayne Rex + Rick Jensen. Sunday 15th April 15:30

Interstellar Spaced free jazz improvisations from saxophone and drums explorers Dave Jackson and Wayne Rex: “the purity of just drums and alto saxophone leaves no place to hide, nowhere to escape from the improvisational impulse, you either
have to get on with it or give up… search for a guiding star amidst the clouds of unknowing, hoist a ragged sail and head off in search of a new world.”

Wayne Rex
A rebellious polyrhythmic poet of the drumkit, Wayne has been described as “the best drummer in the Southwest” by Blackcat Records. Over the last few years he’s been carving out a name for himself in the improv scene playing with a diverse range of equally talented imdividuals including Tim Hill, Vinnie Paternostro, Dominic Lash, Stef Giaconne, André de Castro, LoE LoF LoN, Kolektief UFO, Kek-W, Visitants, Anla Courtis, Total System Failure, Michel Kristof, Julien Palomo, Ross Taylor, Adam Flynn and Henry Caravan.

Dave Jackson
A sometimes reclusive figure, Dave Jackson has been active on the UK improv scene for nearly 30 years. Best known for his excoriating sax explorations with the legendary Solar Fire Trio, Dave has also played with many travelling musicians who have crossed his wayward path including Chris Corsano, Steve Belger, Eddie Prevost, Phil Marks, Olie Brice, Dave Birchall, Kate Armitage, THF Drenching, Carlos Zingaro, Dirk Serries and many others

“Dave Jackson free-squeeks the alto sax into Yoko Ono’s attic” – Julian Cope
“Solid, savage blurt.” – Byron Coley
“like an air raid siren going off inside a space helmet” – Sounds From The Other City
“Left me wordless. Not that I had anybody to talk to. At least I can tell YOU a few words  about it (will you listen?). I hear echoes of  Kaoru Abe, of Arthur Doyle here, those  territories that few saxophone players dare to  explore” – Julien Polomo, Improvising Beings
