Petero Kalulé : Kalimba : Music + Book Launch. Friday 17th May 19:30

Petero Kalulé is a Ugandan poet, theorist, composer & multi-instrumentalist. He will be reading from his debut collection of poems KALIMBA by Guillemot Press (copies of which will be available for purchase on the night) and performing free form music with:

Petero Kalulé – saxophone, clarinet, flutes
Alec Kronacker – bass
Ed Shipsey – percussion
Yifeat Ziv – voice
Sebastian Sterkowicz – guitar/bass clarinet

Alec Kronacker is an artist and musician based in London. Current projects include the duo PNAK with Paul Naudin and collaborations with members of the Mopomoso workshop group.

Edward Shipsey is an improvising musician using voice, keyboard and percussion. He has recently been making more multi tracked pieces with text : listen on soundcloud

Yifeat Ziv is an experimental vocalist and composer, evolving in between free-improvisation, contemporary new music, jazz and sound art. She is the co-founder of experimental vocal quartet ABRA Ensemble and vocal jazz trio The Hazelnuts with whom she has released four albums and performed worldwide including Marseille Jazz des Cinqs Continents (FR), Tri-C Jazz (US), Safaricom Jazz (KE), Filter4Voices (CH) and Red Sea Jazz (IL). She is a current recipient of the Siday Fellowship for Musical Creativity

Sebastian Sterkowicz (bass clarinet, guitar) is a regular at both Eddie Prévost’s workshop and the Mopomoso Workshop Group and has also performed with the London Improvisors Orchestra. He more recently appeared with drummer Dave Fowler and bass player Jordan Muscatello at Scaledown, also at Arch1 and Skronk open sessions nights …Sebastian is a Jimi Hendrix fan and does improvised music in that order.
