Shephali Frost is a singer, poet & soundscape artist, who is known to be a fearless cross-genre & cross-cultural improviser. Shephali did an MA in creative writing at Bath Spa university under poet Philip Gross. Her recent performance in poetry & spoken word have been at Cotham Club in Bristol, Old Church in Stoke Newington, Jazz825 in Southend, Albany Theatre in Coventry, amongst others. This is her third performance with Mark Hewins who she shares a close bond with. They are both involved in the creation of her new poetry and spoken word album called, ‘Turmoil of Onions & New Delhi Nocturne’. Apart from poetry & prose in English, Shephali has published two books of poetry in Hindi (in India). She is an award-winning screenwriter and video-editor. She is also known for her performance of mystic music from the east under the banner, ‘Shephali Frost Ensemble’.

Mark Hewins is one of the generation of musicians which followed in the wake of the experimental groups of the sixties, represented by Pink Floyd and Soft Machine among others. In fact, whilst in New York in 1988, Hewins introduced Lou Reed to the midi-guitar and his consequent contribution to the album of songs in memory of Andy Warhol by Lou Reed and John Cale, is acknowledged in the sleeve notes. Mark is a keen scuba diver, one of his recent projects was travelling inside the Arctic Circle to dive under the Bering Sea ice to collect sounds for his beloved eco-ambient music. Mark is delighted to bring new soundscapes to Shephali’s work ever since the two worked together in London, Southend and Margate.

Stuart Wilding is an improvising percussionist, playing a mixture of junk percussion, lap harp and cello. He is active in several current collaborations: Ghost Mind, Longstone, Lo-fi Ensemble, Mike Adcock duo, Pete Robson duo, Professori Sognare, Madrona, the Cheltenham Improvisers Orchestra and Chris Cundy’s Speed Hobby. He currently runs the ‘Lo-fi Improvised music Workshops’ in Camberwell. In the past he has worked in a number of smaller improvising ensembles and with the Flying Down Trio, Hither Green Drone Orchestra and Makeshift. He was also a performer and musician with the Hand in Glove Performance Group. This is Shephali’s first performance with Stewart. Mark Hewins and he are long term collaborators.
