An afternoon concert by brass trio The Hard Edges of Metal, with support by Charlotte Keeffe (solo trumpet)
From rasping dissonance through mysterious melancholy to sweet sonority The Hard Edges of Metal bring decades of improvising experience to this intriguing trio. Band members have performed with Keith Tippett, Louis Moholo, John Stevens, Paul Rutherford, Paul Jolly, Sylvia Hallett and Clive Bell to name but a few. Part of a loose collective of Norfolk-based musicians performing together in many ensembles Chris Dowding (trumpet), Dave Amis (trombone) and Ben Higham (tuba) celebrate texture and emotion with spontaneity and creativity.
Charlotte Keeffe graduated with a Bachelor of Music Honours degree specialising in Jazz Performance on the trumpet from the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, and has since been performing with trumpeter Henry Lowther, in clarinettist / guitarist Alex Ward’s bands, and in a trumpet duo with Kim Macari Stone-Lonegan. For this concert, Charlotte will play solo…
