Green Peppers: Joshua Weitzel / Keisuke Matsui / James O’Sullivan + Tom Jackson. Saturday 6th June at 7:30pm

Joshua Weitzel     James O'Sullivan     Keisuke Matsui

Joshua R. Weitzel is an improviser, performer and jazzman from Kassel, Germany. He plays guitar, shamisen and live electronics, sometimes simultaniously and has worked with many excellent players and composers.

Using a combination of feedback, conventional guitar techniques, and instrumental preparations, London-based electric guitarist James O’ Sullivan exploits the full sonic potential of electric guitar, amplifier and the environment in which both are placed. His interest in improvisation, recording and performance has led him to record and perform internationally, both solo, and with numerous improvised music groups. More longstanding arrangements include Found Drowned, a power-trio with Pete Marsh and Paul May, and his collaboration with Thanos Chrysakis on several releases on the Aural Terrains exploratory music label. His debut solo album ‘feed back couple’, was released on the Forwind label in 2011.

Originally from Kyoto, Japan, Keisuke Matsui has lived in London since the 1980s and works with extended techniques incorporating percussion, found objects, rice, water, and lo-fi electronics into his soundscapes. He currently plays with Grassy Noel & APE, Jerico Orchestra, and leads his own improvising group KMAT.

Tom Jackson is a clarinettist and saxophonist based in London. He is largely dedicated to the fields of contemporary classical music and free improvisation, and regularly performs with European improvisers and contemporary ensembles.
